Beginning English for Writing in Science and Industry (ESCI N160)

Improve your written English language skills in science and industry contexts. This course focuses on vocabulary and grammar used in defining, explaining processes and procedures and presenting data. The final individualized project may be an instruction, procedure or specification document.

Designed for international professionals, ESCI 160 is the first of two courses in an online, non-credit certificate program in English for Writing in Science and Industry. ESCI 160 is a pre-requisite for the second course, Intermediate English for Writing in Science and Industry ( ESCI 170). After successfully completing ESCI 160 and 170, students receive a University of Washington certificate.
