Localization Engineering

The job of a localization engineer requires a fairly broad range of knowledge and skills. This course introduces students to these concepts. The course will cover technology areas that require the work of a localization engineer. The goal is to provide students with an understanding of the the root causes of engineering issues to be able to problem-solve on their own. Hands-on experience with localization and terminology management tools will be provided. Students will be asked to apply the course content to real-life scenarios and think creatively as well as critically through issues. The expectation is that by the end of the class, students will be able to work in an entry-level localization engineer role. Information will also be provided during the quarter for students to read further on topics if desired. Note that this course will require keen attention to detail and the ability to follow direction. Aptitude for learning about new technology and processes in a fast-paced classroom is important.
