Popular Fiction II: Wrapping Up Your Story

Students will apply self-editing techniques to strengthen the final draft of their full-length novels, assembling plot threads and creating resonance. Students will explore the power of alternate endings and heightened emotion. The role of the author in the marketing process will also be explored in depth, including creation of query letters, the pitching process, construction of a one-page synopsis, the role of agents and editors, and opportunities for publishing in the digital age.
