Systems Biology & Bioinformatics
The philosophy of systems biology is covered, along with experimental design and the linkages between discovery and hypothesis driven science. The course reviews systems biology tools for genomics, proteomics, modeling and data integration and emerging technologies. Bioinformatics is the field of science in which biology, computer science and information technology merge to form a single discipline. Students are introduced to this dynamic field that is constantly evolving and playing larger roles in drug discovery and research. A laptop computer is required for in-class work.
