Discover markup languages and learn their role in publishing content on the Web. Explore the context and history of the Internet and the World Wide Web. Gain an understanding of HTML and CSS, UNIX basics, information architecture and Web site publishing. Study web standards propagated by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Explore universal design and accessibility (including Section 508 and the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative), online privacy and security and the eXtensible Markup Language (XML). Learn how to hand code web pages to standards and upload web pages to the web server. Build a complete working website on a topic of your choice with menus, navigation and CSS.
