Steven Daly

Retired Research Hydraulic Engineer, U.S. Army Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory

Steven Daly was a research hydraulic engineer at the U.S. Army Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL) and is retired. He has more than 40 years of experience in cold regions water resources engineering, including solving snowmelt, river ice and river ice jam problems.

Daly has a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Iowa and is a diplomat of the American Academy of Water Resource Engineering. He developed the river ice and ice jam simulation procedures in HEC-RAS software and is a recognized expert in frazil ice problems at intakes. He is the author of four book chapters, more than  20 journal articles, over 15 CRREL reports and many other reports on river ice and snowmelt hydrology.
