About this Course

Get an overview of the essential role of the library information and technology (LIT) program in the school’s mission. Focus on developing and implementing programs that ensure students learn essential information skills, coordinating efforts with classroom teachers and other educators in providing meaningful learning opportunities, and ensuring that teacher-librarians are central players in our schools. Examination of the functions of the LIT program: information and technology literacy skills instruction, reading advocacy, and information management and services. Review of current issues in the field. Development of a personal professional growth plan that tracks progress throughout the school library media endorsement program.

Participants learn the ABCs of powerful LIT programs:

  • Articulate a vision of the library and information program essential to and fully engaged in student learning
  • Be strategic in program analysis, planning, implementing and evaluating
  • Continuously communicate the vision and substance of the library and information program
