Course Application Steps
This course is part of a certificate program. You can take this course without enrolling in the certificate program, but it won't automatically count toward earning the certificate. To apply to the full certificate program instead, visit the Certificate in Business Intelligence & Data Migration page. We accept course applicants on a space-available basis.
Step 1: Gather the Following Materials
- A current resume
- A personal statement outlining your relevant skills and knowledge and how you acquired them (250-word maximum)
Step 2: Apply
Click "apply online" to complete your application and submit the materials listed in step 1.
After Applying
We will email you before the first class to let you know if you’ve been accepted. If you’re accepted, we’ll send you details about your course, including information on paying your course fee.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
To apply, you must have ONE of the following:
- Basic SQL and database skills, including the ability to:
- Understand and use various SQL commands such as SELECT, WHERE, JOIN (INNER and OUTER), GROUP BY, HAVING and ORDER BY
- Create tables and define relationships between them
- Insert, update and delete data in a database using SQL commands
- Understand how to create and use basic SQL views, stored procedures and functions
- Successfully completed the Foundations of Databases & SQL Programming course
NOTE: To help determine if you have the required SQL knowledge, consider taking this SQL self-assessment.
Time Commitment
Including time in class, you should expect to spend about 10 to 12 hours each week on coursework.
English Proficiency
If English is not your native language, you should have at least intermediate English skills to enroll. To see if you qualify, make sure you are at the B2 level on the CEFR self-assessment grid. To learn more, see English Language Proficiency Requirements – Noncredit Programs.

Technology Requirements
- Access to a Windows or Mac computer with:
- A recent operating system and web browser
- At least 4GB of RAM (8GB recommended)
- At least 64GB hard drive space
- High-speed internet connection
- Headset and webcam (recommended)
