About this Course

Explore how stormwater management has evolved over the last 40 years in parallel with the enactment of the Clean Water Act. Understand how the NPDES Municipal Stormwater Permits have spurred the use of GSI as an important tool for improving stormwater runoff, managing combined sewer overflows (CSO), and managing water demand. Students will also come to understand how other regulations that implement the NPDES Municipal Stormwater Permits – namely stormwater management manuals, LID design manuals, zoning codes, and public works design standards – can be made to facilitate the use of GSI practices. To ready students for the design course that follows, students will be taught site analysis techniques.
