About this Course

Ernest Hemingway once told the Paris Review that he rewrote the last page of the novel A Farewell to Arms 39 times. When asked what he was struggling with, the legendary author replied, “Getting the words right.”

If you have a finished draft of a manuscript but are still trying to get the words right, this course is for you. Our instructors provide one-on-one editorial coaching and polishing that can help take your work from good to great. No matter what your chosen genre or literary category, we’ll match you with a knowledgeable teacher who can refine your work and help prepare you for seeking representation, submitting to competitions, applying for fellowships and MFA programs, and pursuing formal publication.

Note: The consultation consists of a 30-minute personal coaching session. The instructor will review a maximum of 50 pages and provide at least two pages of notes about the work.

The coaching session will take place in person or by email, phone or web conferencing. The exact schedule and contact method will be negotiated between you and the instructor.

Designed For

Writers who have completed a manuscript draft — short or full-length fiction, nonfiction, poetry, plays or children’s books — and seek comprehensive written and verbal feedback.
