Train for the Digital Economy

Get the skills and training you need to compete in today’s job market. 

With AARP Foundation’s Skills for the Digital Economy program, jobseekers over 50 may be eligible to enroll in a UW professional certificate program or course at no cost.

PROGRAM DETAILS

The Skills for the Digital Economy program is a new initiative in Washington state to help workers over 50 get the skills, training and support they need to compete with confidence for in-demand jobs in a variety of sectors.

Managed by AARP Foundation, the program provides participants with: 

  • Financial assistance for professional certificate programs or courses
  • Computer skills training
  • Career coaching and job search tools
  • Connections to community resources

WHO’S ELIGIBLE?

To be considered for this program, you must:

  • Be 50 or older
  • Reside in Washington state
  • Be underemployed or unemployed
  • Have a household income below the levels listed or below the Washington State Self-Sufficiency Standard income applicable to your household and county (use calculator).

HOW TO APPLY

  1. Carefully review the admission requirements for your chosen certificate program or course to make sure you qualify. 
  2. If you have questions about applying to a certificate program or course, contact us.
  3. Complete the Skills for the Digital Economy application. Include two forms of identification: One with your age and photo, such as a driver’s license, and the other with your residential address, like a utility bill.
  4. Sign the income self-attestation form sent by the program.
  5. If approved for the program, you'll take digital skills assessments and meet with a coach to start the enrollment process for your certificate program or course. Our team is here to help — just email enroll@pce.uw.edu or call 800-506-1325.
