Tom Nolan
Client Service Director | City of Seattle, Seattle Information Technology
Tom Nolan was the primary project manager for the implementation of the City of Seattle's enterprise GIS during the 1990s. He served as the city GIS director for 15 years and as the information technology director for Seattle Public Utilities for almost 10 years. He now works for Seattle Information Technology as the client service director for Seattle Public Utilities and the Office of the Mayor.
Tom earned a master's in geography/GIS from the University of Washington, with an emphasis on cartography, survey and remote sensing. He is the former two-term chair of the Washington State Geographic Information Council and has performed GIS consulting work for the cities of Portland, Anchorage, New York and Chicago. He helps develop and teach the UW Certificate in Geographic Information Systems and has a special interest in aesthetically pleasing cartography, dynamic maps and using 3D visualizations for storytelling.
