We asked Rodrigo Nunes, an instructor in our Certificate in Storytelling & Content Strategy, to share a few of his favorite professional resources with us. Here’s what he had to say about what he’s loving right now and why.
Instructor, Content Science: Data Analysis & Understanding the Problem
Senior Software Engineer, RealSelf
I have a passion for data, and there are so many great resources in this area. Day-to-day, Google Analytics is my one stop place for a comprehensive view of who, where, when and how users are interacting with our site. I also use it to create and track goals, build reports and so much more.
As a fan of data visualization, I love to read up on the topic. A blog I especially enjoy is Cole Nussbaumer Knaflic’s Storytelling With Data. Cole does a great job of linking pictorial presentation with human emotion, perception, attention and focus — and she has some super informative videos on YouTube.
I’d also recommend Charles Wheelan’s book Naked Statistics: Stripping the Dread From the Data, which makes statistics approachable for anybody.
On a more personal note, I’m all about making the most of my commute. My days start and end with a skateboard ride. In the morning, it’s 45 minutes to think about where I'm at, what needs to be done, what habit traps I’m falling into. Heading home, it’s time to listen to Brazilian sports, news or an Audible sci-fi book. It’s my Zen moment.
