In this three-course certificate program, we’ll immerse ourselves in the science and techniques behind drug development across all phases of translational pharmaceutics. You’ll study the principles of pharmacokinetics used to test the effectiveness of a drug in laboratory settings, and learn about navigating the steps from Investigational New Drug (IND) application to product launch. We’ll also investigate how to optimize drug formulation, scale up manufacturing processes and produce biologics and designer drugs. Gain a thorough knowledge of the stages involved in taking a pharmaceutical agent through the complex development process.
Professionals who work in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and related fields.
Bachelor's degree, preferably in a scientific, technical, clinical or medically related field, although all applicants will be considered.
Students must have completed the courses in the Certificate in Basic Bioscience or be able to demonstrate equivalent background in molecular and cellular biology, basic statistics and basic knowledge of all stages of pharmaceutical development.

All class meetings are conducted in a live online webinar meeting room. Students must have reliable access to a computer (Mac or PC) with a recent operating system, current Web browser and a high-speed Internet connection. Classes use Voice over Internet Protocol and require a headset with a built-in microphone.

If you’re accepted, we’ll send you details about your first-term course, including information on paying your course fee. Your course fee is due four weeks before the first class.
With the exception of the one-time application fee, certificate program fees are charged on a quarterly basis. Payment is due when you register.
Course fees do not include any costs for class materials such as textbooks and software. The technology fee is based on the number of credits you are taking.

This program requires class attendance both online and in person. Half of the class meetings are conducted online. Using Adobe Connect Web conferencing software, you attend class sessions in real time and interact with your instructors and fellow students via chat or phone. Course sessions will also be recorded and will be available for you to review, but you must attend at least 80 percent of the class sessions in real time.
