About this Course

Learn to hand-code HTML, CSS and JS according to web standards. Create a complete web site from scratch and publish it online. Explore web technologies, browsers, networking, virtualization, Linux command-line and SFTP. Learn about design, SEO, accessibility and more.

You can take this course on its own (single-course enrollment); you can also apply it towards the Certificate in IT Foundations. You can also take it as preparation for the Certificate in JavaScript and the Certificate in HTML5, CSS3 & Responsive Design for Web Development.

Topics include:

  • Industry best practices
  • Command line and text editor experience
  • XML for data storage and organization
  • Construction of a complete web site for your portfolio

Students should expect up to nine hours of work a week, including class sessions.

Start Dates

This course will run from June 26 to August 31, 2017. Instructors hold regular online office hours on Mondays from 6–7 p.m. (Pacific time). These sessions are optional but recommended; they may be recorded for those who can’t attend.
