About this Course


General Pharmaceutics I and II offer an overview of the key processes and departments that are fundamental to the effective development of products at large and small pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Pharmaceutics I provides an overview of drug design, then delves into current methods for drug therapy research and development, molecular modeling, drug discovery methods, toxicology testing, biomarkers and the steps involved in preparing for Phase I clinical trials.

Prerequisite: Completion of a course in molecular and cellular biology and a course in pathophysiology (undergraduate or graduate coursework in human physiology and biology may be substituted with instructor permission)
