About this Course

This fundamental course focuses on an understanding of the principles related to anatomical, cellular and physical form and function in order to render illustrations for scientific purposes. We’ll explore how to render form using light, line, measure and perspective. You’ll be given the opportunity to render selected specimen subjects through a variety of demonstrated techniques, including digital techniques.

The course includes two weekend Digital Illustration Workshops, both of which are required for course completion.

Past guest speakers have included artist, illustrator and teacher Sue Burrus; David Ehlert, a biomedical illustrator at Cognition Studio and Inessa Stanishevskaya, medical illustrator and animator at Cognition Studio.
