Advanced Drone Applications & Innovation

About This Course

Serving as a capstone experience, this course challenges you to think at the frontier of the field. Topics include drone autonomy, multi-drone coordination, geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI) and regulatory evolution. You’ll also explore the business and ethical dimensions of drone integration across logistics, energy, environmental management and media production. The course examines emerging operational models and how rapid technological advancement is reshaping industry practice and policy.

As a culminating project, you’ll propose and design an original drone-based innovation addressing a real-world problem, synthesizing the technical, analytical and strategic knowledge developed across the full program and resulting in a compelling, portfolio-ready deliverable.

What You’ll Learn

  • Geospatial mapping and photogrammetry methods for processing and analyzing drone-collected data into useful information for decision-making

  • Methods for applying AI-powered computer vision tools in drone workflows for object detection, classification and automated data interpretation

  • Detailed workflows using best practices to capture accurate drone data
