Meet the Instructor

Aaron Ottinger

Dr. Aaron Ottinger (he/him) focuses on the intersection between digital technology, social justice, and the environment. His most recent essay, “Mapping the Global Ecodigital Divide: A Collaborative Exercise for Online Classrooms” appears in Interdisciplinary Digital Engagement in the Arts & Humanities (summer 2021). In addition, Ottinger researches the history of literature and mathematics. He has also written several articles on teaching and pedagogy. He earned a Ph.D. in English at the University of Washington in 2016.

Outside of the university, Ottinger volunteers as an education consultant for EchoX’s DIGITIZE program, a web development program for youth in the Pacific Northwest. From 2017 to 2018, Ottinger was a Communications Fellow for the Keats-Shelley Association. He has freelanced and interned in various writing and communications capacities for companies in Seattle and the Chicago area. He spends his free time practicing piano, cooking, and playing with his chihuahua, Petunia.
