boB Taylor

boB Taylor has been involved in software development since 1972 when he started programming FORTRAN 66 on Hollerith punch cards. During his 18-year tour of duty in the U.S. Marine Corps, he worked on a magnetic drum-based computer system. In 1993, Taylor started working with SQL Server 4.2.1, and he has developed, tuned and administered every version since. During his more than 10 years at Microsoft, Taylor has focused on SQL Server — Microsoft Partner Advantage, Premier Field Engineering, the Certified Master and Certified Architect program, and Premier Development. He is currently a data platform solution architect in the Health and Life Sciences vertical.

Prior to Microsoft, Taylor was the director of database technologies for Avanade’s West Region and the vice president of Sun Healthcare Systems. Taylor has helped develop 10 certification exams in the SQL Server and .NET space, is a SQL Ranger and holds MCA, MCM, MCSM, MCSE, MCSD and MCT certifications. In addition to deep ties with the SQL Server community, Taylor also has a passion for healthcare and has worked for many customers and ISV’s such as Nextgen, Allscripts, EPIC, GE Healthcare, Greenway and Baylor.

Outside of Microsoft, Taylor enjoys performing as a professional magician and mentalist (which is where the unique spelling of his name comes from).
