Carl Chatfield
Technical Communicator and Project Manager
Carl Chatfield is an experienced content strategist and top-notch technical communicator with a focus on commercial software and services. An instructor for the UW Certificate in Professional Technical Writing and Certificate in Storytelling & Content Strategy programs, he was honored with a Teaching Excellence Award in 2023. Some of his past technical and instructional writing work includes Microsoft Project Step by Step, 2000 through 2016 editions. Project Step by Step is a self-paced tutorial published by Microsoft Press and is a category best-seller that’s been translated into several languages.
He has a Master of Science in Technical and Scientific Communication from the University of Washington. He’s also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with a long history of practicing and mentoring good project management in waterfall and agile environments.
