Hang Zhang
Senior Data & Applied Scientist | Microsoft
Zhang is a senior data and applied scientist in the commercial software engineering team at Microsoft. Since joining Microsoft in 2014, Dr. Zhang has been working with external strategic partners of Microsoft on building state-of-the-art machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions to tackle their most important and urgent business challenges. His current technical focus is on big data, Internet of Things, Spark, deep neural network for image classification, object detection and time series forecasting.
Zhang earned a Ph.D. in industrial and systems engineering and a master's in statistics. He is active in machine learning competition communities. He won the seventh position in the 2011 KDD Cup, the second position in 2012 KDD Cup, Track 2, and the fifth position in Heritage Health Prize. He co-chaired the KDD Cup 2012. He was elected as a Senior Member of IEEE in 2010.
