Meet the Instructor
Jonas Sylvester joined Unico in 2003 in an acquisitions capacity and has expanded his role over time. Currently, he oversees all functions of Unico whose teams deliver real estate results across the company’s western U.S. markets. He oversees all investment management, real estate services and financial functions, with an emphasis on driving growth initiatives. His duties as president are to lead the company by setting short- and long-term strategies and objectives, leading new business activities and ventures, and directing division operations to achieve results. He also directly supervises all divisions and department leaders across the company.
Previously, Sylvester worked in investment banking, private equity and corporate process management for companies including G.E., Chestnut Partners and Bank of America Securities. He’s deeply involved in the Urban Land Institute, serving as the chair for the northwest district and as a member of a national product council. He’s an instructor in the UW master’s in real estate and the UW Certificate in Commercial Real Estate. Sylvester has an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a mathematics degree from MIT.
