Meet the Instructor

Kate Merriwether

Kate Merriwether focuses her private investigation work on background checks, “sweetheart” investigations, and ensuring a great experience for learners in the UW Certificate in Private Investigation program. She's been part of the certificate program for nearly 10 years, helping to train instructors and design the online learning experience for students. In 2023, UW Continuum College recognized her outstanding contributions with a Teaching Excellence Award for excellence as an instructional assistant.

Merriwether owned and operated a brick-and-mortar business in Seattle for 13 years. She’s also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Merriwether earned an associate’s degree of technical arts in digital forensics from Edmonds Community College.
