Meet the Instructors
Executive Director, Washington State Jewish Historical Society
Lisa Kranseler has been the executive director of the Washington State Jewish Historical Society (WSJHS) since 2006. She joined the organization after graduating from the Certificate in Museum Studies program, which she holds near and dear to her heart. One of her practicums for the program, in fact, was curating an exhibit for the WSJHS — which turned into her current job.
At WSJHS, Kranseler has been responsible for exhibits, programs, publications and collections and oversees the archivist at the Washington State Jewish Archives at the UW Special Collections Libraries. Kranseler is very familiar with the heritage community in King County, having served on the board of the Association of King County Historical Organizations for six years. In addition, she was on the Certificate in Museum Studies advisory board for several years before taking on the role of practicum instructor. Kranseler has also formed collaborations with many of the historical societies and museums in King County through her current role at WSJHS.
Kranseler is also a CPA with more than 20 years in the field and extensive experience conducting complex research programs. She has a B.S. in accounting from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business, and an M.S. in taxation from Bentley College.
