Stephanie May

Principal, Liminal Maps

Stephanie May has more than 15 years of experience specializing in web cartography, open-source geospatial data and software, and community mapping projects. Currently the principal of Liminal Maps, May previously served as a cartographer at Apple and Meta, and as the director of geospatial at Stamen Design.

May is passionate about geography and cartography education and communication, particularly as it relates to climate science, social perception and public policy tools. She currently serves on the board of the Cloud Native Geospatial Forum and the Maplibre Organization. She holds a master’s degree in geographic information science from San Francisco State University.
