About this Program

When creating video, online or mobile games, building a prototype — a working model of a design — is a key step in the game development process. Today, many game designers use game engine software tools to create rapid prototypes, where they build out narratives and add a variety of game mechanics.

In this specialization, you’ll use the Unity game engine to develop a short arcade-style 2D game prototype from scratch. You’ll gain skills in C# programming, the Unity editor, modeling, animation, scripting, and user interface (UI) design implementation. We’ll cover game mechanics and basic physics, such as controls for collisions, gravity, jumping, opponent behavior, and player health. Along the way, you’ll get guidance and direct feedback from industry veterans who have produced some of the world’s leading tactical role-playing games (RPGs).

Designed For

Those who want to enter or advance in the game industry, including designers, developers, entrepreneurs and others with basic coding experience.
