About this Course


Telling your story – in words and/or in numbers – is a key skill in fundraising. This quarter provides students with a set of tools for making their financial and programmatic case to key audiences – including management dashboards for boards, case statements for donors, budgets for funders and more. Case studies, guest speakers and practical assignments bring the material to life and offer students a chance to try new skills and tools.

Topics include:

  • Prospect research strategies
  • Elements of grant proposals
  • Reading and analyzing financial statements
  • Budgeting and reports for fundraisers
  • The form 990

Program Overview

This program consists of four courses taken over three quarters. The practicum course extends over quarters 2 and 3.
