About this Course

In this course, you’ll get ready to launch your HR career. You’ll get a more in-depth perspective on key human resources functions, including payroll, compensation and benefits, recruiting, learning and development, and the HR generalist and HR business partner roles. You’ll learn what each function commonly entails, including typical workflows and regulatory requirements, and how to apply the competencies you’ve developed to quickly master the function in a future role. We’ll also discuss how to avoid common errors that can jeopardize your success and how to work with the rest of the HR team to resolve any issues.


  • How to apply for an HR role in any functional area and connect your skills with the requirements of that role
  • How to read a job description and ask the right questions to determine if a given role will play to your strengths
  • Techniques for adapting to a multifunctional HR role
  • Common HR challenges you might face in a small firm and how to help management avoid HR pitfalls and future costs and risks


You’ll learn how to use online tools to research and apply for jobs and get practice interviewing with recruiters for HR roles.
