ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
This is an introductory technology course with no formal admission requirements. Students are expected to be familiar with computers and have some exposure to using the command line on Windows, Linux or a Mac.
English Proficiency
If English is not your native language, you should have at least intermediate English skills to enroll. To learn more, see English Language Proficiency Requirements – Noncredit Programs.
International Students
International students are welcome to enroll in an online offering of this course, which doesn’t require a visa. To enroll in a classroom offering, you must have a visa that permits study in the United States. This course does not enable students to obtain or maintain F-1 visa status. Classroom students will need:
- Laptop with required specifications to bring to class (see operating systems below)
- Administrative privileges to install software
Online students will need:

- High-speed internet connection
- Headset with microphone
Operating Systems
- 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo or faster processor (or the equivalent)
- A recent operating system (Windows 8.1 or later/Mac OS X 10.7.4 or later)
- At least 4G of RAM
